Helsinki Main Railway Station designed by Eliel Saarinen and completed in 1919 is an iconic landmark in the heart of the city. The development project started by VR Group is aiming at making the station yet more convenient for the passengers and city dwellers and improving safety and the atmosphere of the station and surrounding areas.

Talli is responsible for planning of the project in collaboration with A-Konsultit Architects and Design Agency Amerikka. The station building is protected under the Act on the Protection of the Built Heritage and the local master plan. Renovation and restoration planning will be conducted in close collaboration with the Finnish Heritage Agency and Helsinki Building Control Department.
