Casa Haartman was the home and studio of Artist Axel Haartman and his wife Hedvig, and it was designed by Erik Bryggman, a friend of the couple, in 1926. The building represents Nordic Classisim of the 1920s, influenced by Italian vernacular architecture, ’architettura minore’. After Haartmans’ era, from the beginning of the 1970s, the building has been a museum and a residence for researchers. It is listed under the building conservation act. The present owners, the Foundation for Åbo Akademi, commissioned the historical building survey.
