The general plan of the Jyväskylä University Campus area was designed by Alvar Aalto in the beginning of the 1950's. The campus buildings form a loose U-shape. The main building, which is the best known, is situated on the north side of the campus.

In 2010 renovation- and interior design for the Alvar Aalto campus buildings was ordered from Talli. The first step will be interior design for the library spaces. The functions will be set to modern standars, by offering for example group working spaces on the gallery level.
