In 2000 and 2001 Talli architects made the idea plans for new exhibiton spaces, situated on the inset of the drive-in floor, facing Töölönlahti-bay. The size of this extension is 2500 m2. Based on these drafts the building protection authority allowed changes to be made in the protected facades of the Finlandia-hall, orginally designed by Alvar Aalto in 1971-1973.
