A 300-metre-long concrete structure cuts underneath the Huopalahti railway station and through the courtyards of multistory blocks from 1959. The structure can be considered an environmental art work for the enjoyment of both residents and train passengers. The design has been  inspired by rhododendrons growing in the nearby forest. The deck above the tunnel, interspersed with vegetation, is perforated by light wells.
