A 300-metre-long concrete structure cuts underneath the Huopalahti railway station and through the courtyards of the multistory blocks from the 1959s. It can also be considered an environmental art work for the enjoyment of both the residents and the train passengers. The design was partly inspired by rhododendrons growing in the nearby forest. The deck above the tunnel, interspersed with vegetation, is perforated by light wells. |
